There are three bus
stations in Lijiang . The main one is at the southern end of Minzhu
Road, and one is near the Old Town , and the Eexpress bus station
is on the Shangri Avenue. You can buy bus tickets at any of these
stations but check which station your bus leaves from.bear in mind
to make sure you know which station to board your buses. They run
rRegular and express buses run in the daytime, and long-distance
sleeper buses ones at night for longer distance.
Kunming-Dali-Lijiang
Highway was built in 1998, cutting the traveling time from 15 hours
to 8 hours. There are plenty of buses running back and forth between
Kunming and Lijiang via Dali. Sleeper buses cost ??120 and Express
buses ??150-180.
Dali-Lijiang Railway is now being built , scheduled to be finished
by 2008.
Lijiang-Panzhihua Highway has recently been repaved. It takes about
8 hours to drive from Lijiang to Panzhihua , Sichuan Province. The
tickets cost ??40 for regular buses and ??60 for sleeper buses.
Lijiang-Shangri-la/Zhongdian Highway was built in 2005. It is a comfortable
to have a ride with good views on the way. Bus tickets' prices range
from ??27 to ??50.
Lijiang-Lugu Lake The road
has been improved recently, so the drive is about 5 hours from Lijiang
to Lugu Lake, passing by the Yi villages. Tickets cost from ??40
to??60.
Flights There are plenty of flights (9-23 flights a day) tofor
major cities in China from 7:20 a.m. to 23:50 p.m. They run direct
flights to Kunming , Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu
,Chongqing, and Jinghong, etc. Check with the ticketing offices
for the latest information.
City bus system Despite its small size, Lijiang has a good public
bus system. You can take a bus to most of the streets in the city
, and NO.7 to Yak Meadow , stopping at on the way , they stop at
Ganhaizi and Spruce Meadow on the way.
Taxi The most convenient way to have a ride around the town is
to take a taxi. There are over 800 clearly-signed taxies in Lijiang
with clear signs to recognize.
